In my previous news update I announced that I will be opening The Jam Jar for face-to-face lessons from Monday 6th July. Below is some more info about what I am doing to keep the space safe for everyone. You can access a COVID-19 risk assessment for The Jam Jar here. If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything further please get in touch.

COVID-19

I’m very excited to open up The Jam Jar and I am doing everything I can to make sure that I do so in a way that is safe for everyone. I am cleaning at regular intervals throughout the day, targeting door handles, surfaces, anything that people may touch. I am also spacing lessons out to allow time for me to clean between pupils and to avoid an overlap of people. I have set my “teacher station” up at the opposite end of the room to the pupil and the drum kit so I can maintain a safe distance. I will also still be offering video lessons for the foreseeable future so if you don’t yet feel comfortable coming to me for a lesson you can continue remotely for as long as you like. I also ask everyone who visits to also follow a few precautions to ensure that the building is kept as hygienic and safe as possible …

1.     DON’T COME IN IF YOU ARE ILL
If there are any weeks where you have symptoms I can easily conduct your lesson via Zoom instead.

2.     WASH YER HANDS!
Hand sanitiser is available, please can everyone sanitise on entry, I will be doing the same between lessons.

3.     BRING YOUR OWN DRUM STICKS
At the moment I am not lending any out if you forget your own. I have some you can buy for £5 a pair and they will be yours to keep forever as memento of a time when we couldn’t share things.

 4.     BRING YOUR OWN HEADPHONES/EAR DEFENDERS
If you are playing along to music, the backing tracks will be played out of the speakers however some pupils prefer to use headphones to allow them to hear the music better. If this is the case please bring your own headphones, ideally wired ones as Bluetooth ones won’t allow me to listen at the same time. Some pupils also like to wear ear defenders (drums are loud!) again, please bring your own.

 5.     WAITING AREA
Feel free to use the waiting area if you are accompanying a pupil to their lesson however if you arrive early, please wait in the car if possible until your lesson time. This is to avoid an overlap of people in the waiting area. Help yourself to refreshments, everything is single use and disposable (which is terrible for the environment, feel free to bring your own mug!) One day there will be magazines, sadly though, not today.
